Balanced Group Prepares for Middle School Season

Balance is Key

The 7th and 8th graders at Kouts Middle School are ready for the season to get underway. Highlighted by a balanced attack of 7th and 8th graders, the Mustangs are poised for success during their 2018 campaign.

The 2018 baseball squad features 8 kids from 7th grade along with 8 kids from the 8th grade. With a handful of 6th graders regularly participating at practice, the Mustangs have had a lot of bodies at practice, giving them extra opportunities for scrimmages and game-like situation.

8th Graders Leading the Charge

The 8th grade group has 6 returners from last year's squad. Newcomers Landon Cunningham and Cale Mendenhall add depth to an experienced class.

The 8th grade group will see Cooper Schulte, Jack Gunn, Landon Cunningham, and Tristin Ballas toe the rubber for a bulk of the innings this season. Eric Yager and Devon Klemp will get reps in on the infield and behind the dish for Yager while Cale Mendenhall and Spencer Andrews will patrol the outfield.

This 8th grade group is athletic and full of leadership. When the team has success, it will be traced back to the strong leadership abilities of this class.

7th Graders Learning the Ropes

The 7th grade group at Kouts brings versatility to the club with speed, power, and consistency.

Twins Logan and Landon Clark pitch and play infield. One throws lefty and bats righty while the other throws lefty and bats righty. Both Clarks will see action this season, especially once Coach Tucker can get their names right.

Chase Trumbo and Cody Smith will look to get reps in at both corner infield spots while supplying some big pop to the batting order.

Chase Snyder and Sam Deardorff are a pair that can hit, pitch, and play a number of different positions on the field.

Gavin Hepner will play outfield for the club while newcomer Drew Bornt will look to get reps on the mound, behind the plate, and in the infield.

6th Graders getting plenty of reps in

Although the 6th graders will not be participating in game action this fall, a number of them have been showing up to practice and working hard.

Breck Terpstra, Jake Boomer, DJ Trumbo, Caden Spagna, and Dusty Pavlick have been showing up regularly to get better and deserve recognition as well!

The Mustangs kick off their season Thursday, August 23rd at home against Wanatah. First Pitch is set for 4:30.
