Mustangs take 13-9 Record into Final week of season on the brink of breaking multiple records

The Mustangs saw their season record climb to 13-9-1 on Saturday after defeating Culver Academy Twice. Owen Winters was able to capture another offensive record, with a few others on the team close to claiming their own.

Owen Winters collected his 39th base hit, the most in a single season in Kouts history. Winters now has the single season doubles record, single season hits record, and single season runs scored record. He is also one RBI from tying the single season RBI record as well.

Will Carpenter claimed the hit by pitch in a career record last year as a sophomore and has added 7 more to that list this year. Carpenter has also claimed the triples in a career record and broke the single season runs scored record as well. He is now 2 RBIs away from the single season RBI record and has an outside shot of breaking the hits record as well.

Hunter Yager is two runs away from breaking the runs scored in a single season record and 4 runs away from breaking the runs scored in a career record as well. If the Mustangs make it to the sectional championship game, Yager could also capture the games played in a career record.

The Mustangs welcome Rensselaer Central to Kouts on Monday for their final regular season game of the year, one last tune-up before the sectional. Senior Ian Garavalia will be on the mound for the horseshoes, who lost to Rensselaer last year.

On Wednesday, the Mustangs travel to Washington Township to begin sectional play against Morgan Township. Kouts will be the visiting team on the scoreboard, just as they were in the first game between the two schools this year, Owen Winters will get the start for the Mustangs.

If the mustangs win on Wednesday, they will square off against the winner of the Westville-21st Century game on Saturday at 11 am. If the Mustangs win that game, they will play in the championship game on Monday, Memorial Day, at 10 AM. Follow Kouts Baseball on Twitter: @koutsbaseball for all the updates!
