Mustangs take advantage of miscues; rally behind Garavalia at River Forest

Hobart, IN: The Mustangs won their sixth game of the season, already eclipsing last year's total through just 14 games on Thursday evening at River Forest. The game was a back and forth affair that ultimately saw the Mustangs coming out on top. Junior Ian Garavalia earned the complete game victory tossing all seven innings while only surrendering five hits. Garavalia walked 6 batters in the first two innings but settled in and didn't allow a walk in the final five frames. After allowing just 3 earned runs, the junior brought his season E.R.A. down to 3.75. Garavalia also had three hits and two rbis on the day.  Hunter Yager had two hits and two rbis while Anthony Norman and Cole Deardorff both chipped in with doubles as well.

Senior Night

Friday's contest against Victory Christian will be senior night for Kasey Dulik, the lone senior on the team. Kasey will be honored before the game on the field with his parents. Kasey's work ethic and leadership have proven vital in the team's growth over the past two seasons. Dulik started playing baseball last year as a junior. After playing some JV ball and not seeing much action at the varsity level, Kasey has started all 14 games this season and is one of the leading hitters on the team. His presence on the field and at practice will be missed, but Coach Tucker could not be prouder. When asked about Dulik, Tucker stated, "Kasey has been the embodiment of what we have been trying to stress at Kouts over the last two seasons. When I asked him to come out for baseball, I didn't think there was a realistic chance of him coming out, but he did and we've gotten better as a team because of his hard work. I can't wait to see him grown at The University of Southern Indiana and I'm very proud of him.

The pregame ceremony will take place at 4:25 on Friday afternoon at the ballpark at Kouts High School.
